Quote of the day

"It’s not about any deep beliefs. It’s not about dyed-in-the-wool fervour and it's not about deluded optimism. Labor gets my vote because they're our best alternative"

Dr Lauren Rosewarn, School of Social and Political Sciences.

Live coverage of the 2010 Leaders Debate

The Melbourne University Debating Society aka MUDS are taking over the site on Sunday to provide live commentary of the 2010 Federal Election Leaders Debate at The National Press Club of Australia starting from 6.30pm.

Moderated by Sky News Political Editor David Speers (@David_Speers from @SkyNewsAust), the one hour debate between Prime Minister Julia Gillard (@JuliaGillard) and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott (@TonyAbottMHR) will feature questions from ABC News 24 Political Editor Chris Uhlmann (@cuhlmann), Australian Financial Review Editor Laura Tingle (@latingle) and National Political Editor for the Daily Telegraph Malcolm Farr (@farrm51).

So be sure to follow MUDS members Phil Barker (on @unimelbvotes) and Chris Lum (@chrislum1) from the toss of the coin to Gillard and Abbott's closing statements.

And be sure to update the site regularly, as MUDS Secretary Tom Sutherland will post his views on the debate after the event.

More information about MUDS can be found at http://www.mudsonline.net/
